Argentinian tour of Zambila - Marcos Duo: proudly announcing support of Romanian Embassy @ Buenos Aires
The violin/viola & piano duo Cornelia Zambila / Melina Marcos began as an experiment with a concert at Scala din San Telmo, Buenos Aires, in 2015. The experiment was to try, as classical performers, to explore the colors and styles of the tango in the world with a classical-romantic twist. We have since presented concerts with unique arrangements of tangos from Finland, Romania, Turkey, Serbia, the U.S., Iceland, together with some of the famous repertoire by Piazzolla for accompanied instrument, bringing them to the Argentinian audience as well as in Belgium and the Netherlands.
From 2017 on the project of the duo joined forces with Mujeres Argentinas Música de Cámara (together with soprano Claudia Rolando) and presented programmes which focused on making Argentinian music more known for the European audience.
Zambila - Marcos duo
Realizing that our common passion is making beautiful music from our own cultures known to the world, we began to research common elements. And we found many, specifically in the inter- and post-bellum periods: interesting common influences, echoes of stylistical colors of the Zeitgeist and one composer who made it all the way from a village of the Danubian Delta to Buenos Aires: Georges Boulanger.
We are proud to present a beautiful programme with music by Georges Boulanger, together with treasures of Romanian and Argentine creation: George Enescu, Mihail Jora, Celia Torra, Jose de Nito, Juan Bautista Massa and selected compositions by contemporary composers.
Stay tuned for upcoming performance dates in!
